Well, here I am again, back to powering chewbranca.com with wordpress. I’ve bounced around with a variety of other tools, including couchapps, custom blog systems and static generated sites, and have currently been building a new custom blog system with noir and an open source template, but frankly, building a custom blog engine is not something I’m interested in doing. Blogging is essentially a solved problem with a wide variety of toolkits for your choosing. For me, wordpress is the path of least resistance and has all of the plugins and gizmos I’m looking for.
I had another realization, that I’ve spent more time poking at different blogging systems or building my own than I have actually blogging, which is just silly. I did the ‘famous wordpress 5 min install’ and now I’m up and running. This initial post may sound like a sales pitch for wordpress, but its not, its more an analysis of my own disposition to obsess over tools and process rather than accomplishing the original goal.
So the gauntlet has been thrown down. This is a challenge to myself to actually utilize this blog and turn it into something creative. I’ll probably spend more time writing about cooking or random things than tech for the time being, but who knows, it could be interesting.
